Police Arrest 78, Seize Crude Weapons In Nakuru

Police in Nakuru have arrested 78 people suspected of being members of the outlawed gangs ‘Confirmed,’ ‘Wa TZ,’ and ‘Eastlando,’ which have inflicted untold violence on civilians and committed a slew of crimes in the recent past.

During the Tuesday night sting operation in which the suspects were apprehended, officers recovered a cache of crude weapons ranging from knives to daggers, as well as metal bars, swords, and tasers.

Those arrested ranged in age from 18 to 30 years old and are being held at the Kaptembwa police station pending an investigation and subsequent arraignment.

According to Nakuru County Commissioner Lyford Kibara, who confirmed the arrests, police officers from areas with increased insecurity have also been transferred.

The transfers affect the ‘Kwa Rhonda’ police station OCS as well as several other officers who have been at the station for a while.

Mr. Kibara said that chiefs and their assistants, including the Nyumba kumi leadership, will be required to volunteer information that could lead to the arrest of suspected gang members in the future.
