Police in Kisumu on Monday morning arrested one suspect and recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 28, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the 21-year-old Kelvin Oduor, alias Kevoo, robbed a security guard at gunpoint in Kisumu before his arrested.
“The suspect, Kelvin Oduor, alias Kevoo, was apprehended after Kisumu Sub-County Law Enforcement Officers on patrol heard gunshots within the area and swiftly responded,” the DCI said.
Upon arrival, officers established that the suspect had attacked a security guard, robbed him of his mobile phone and rubber shoes, before fleeing the scene.
“Determined not to let him escape, the officers launched a hot pursuit that paid off when the suspect was discovered hiding inside a water storage drum on the rooftop of Patel Sarmaji Building,” the DCI added.
The suspect was escorted to Kisumu Central Police Station, where he is being processed pending arraignment in court.
