Police Arrest Nyeri Man with 292 Suspected Stolen Phones, Laptops

Police in Nyeri have arrested a 32-year-old man found with 292 suspected stolen mobile phones and four laptops during a raid on a shop in Nyeri Township.

The operation, carried out on September 19, 2025, was led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Nyeri Police Station following intelligence reports that the premises were being used to trade in stolen and snatched electronic devices.

During the search, officers recovered hundreds of used mobile phones and laptops.

The suspect was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation of how he had acquired the items and was immediately arrested.

He was booked at Nyeri Police Station and remains in custody as investigations continue.

Police have compiled an inventory of the recovered electronics and launched efforts to trace and return them to their rightful owners.

The National Police Service commended both the officers and members of the public for their vigilance and pledged to sustain crackdowns on criminal networks dealing in stolen goods.
