Police in Likoni constituency, Mombasa County, have arrested a suspect believed to be involved in a string of criminal activities as part of ongoing efforts to curb violence and enhance public safety in the area.
The suspect, described as underage, was apprehended by officers from Inuka Police Station during a routine patrol in the Kibundani Shika Adabu area. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was found in possession of a machete, which authorities believe is linked to recent violent incidents in the region.
“The arrest marked a crucial step in ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, curb gang-related violence, and restore peace and security in the community,” police said in a statement.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to face court proceedings as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, police have stepped up patrols across Mombasa County and are urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious or criminal activity.
The operation comes amid heightened concerns over youth involvement in crime, particularly in informal settlements where gang-related violence has been on the rise.
