Police officers in Kisii County have arrested one suspect and recovered a significant quantity of bhang following a targeted operation in Nyankongo Village on Tuesday.
According to police reports, the joint operation was carried out by officers from Nyanchwa Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kitutu Central Sub-County after receiving actionable intelligence.
During the raid, officers thoroughly searched a house in the village and recovered 160 brooms of suspected cannabis sativa packed in two large bags, as well as another bag containing loose dry leaves of the substance.
The suspect, believed to be the owner of the house, was arrested on the spot and taken into custody. He is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.
The recovered exhibits have been secured at Nyanchwa Police Station as part of the ongoing case.
