Police in Mariakani, Kilifi County, have arrested a man suspected of drug peddling following a public tip-off that led to a swift operation in the Mkwajuni area of Mariakani Township.
According to a police report, officers from Mariakani Police Station, while on patrol on October 11, 2025, acted on credible intelligence and apprehended the suspect, who was found in possession of 12 rolls of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa. The officers also recovered two machetes, classified as offensive weapons, during the arrest.
The suspect was detained at the police station, and the recovered items were secured as exhibits pending forensic analysis and arraignment in court.
The National Police Service (NPS) commended the officers for their prompt and professional response during the operation and lauded members of the public for their continued cooperation in sharing timely information that aids in crime prevention and law enforcement.
In a statement, NPS reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying efforts to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activities that endanger the safety and wellbeing of communities across the country.
