Police in Kilifi have arrested a suspected drug trafficker following a tip-off from vigilant members of the public in the Kibaoni area, Kilifi North Sub-County.
Acting on the intelligence, officers from Kilifi Police Station mounted a swift ambush operation, leading to the suspect’s arrest. A search conducted at the scene yielded a nylon packet containing eleven sachets of a substance believed to be heroin, along with KSh 800 in suspected proceeds from the illegal trade.
The suspect is currently in custody at Kilifi Police Station and is expected to be arraigned once investigations are concluded. The suspected narcotics and cash have been secured as exhibits at the station.
In a statement, the National Police Service commended members of the public for their role in the fight against drug trafficking, noting that such cooperation is vital in combating crime and maintaining community safety.
Investigations into the suspect’s possible links to a broader drug network are ongoing.
