Police arrest three motorcycle theft syndicate suspects in Eldoret

Police in Eldoret have seized 59 motorcycles and 35 engine parts stolen from boda boda operators in Uasin Gishu and its neighbouring areas.

Addressing the press at Eldoret Central Police Station, Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi said the motorcycles were intercepted in Kapsoya garages following a tip from the public.

Mwanthi said 4 suspects have been arrested among them the owner of the garage, the marketer and one suspected thief and are set to be arraigned.

He said the trackers of the stolen motorcycles are first disabled after being stolen and chassis numbers together with body parts are interchanged before being sold to unsuspecting members of the public.
