Police investigations unit DCI has this morning arrested a police officer based in Meru for sodomising five teenage boys. – By Gerald Gekara.
According to a press release from DCI, the suspect has been preying on the young men; 14-15 years and two young adults of 18 & 19 years, for sometime.
The senior officer, whose identity was withheld, has been sodomizing them for an unspecified period. He has since been placed in custody pending further investigations.
Police officers said the newly launched anonymous criminal reporting led them to arrest the officer.
“We thank the member of the public who provided information leading to the perpetrator’s arrest. Equally, we appeal to Kenyans to continue making such reports anonymously, through the DCI emergency toll free line 0800722203, for decisive action by our detectives.” DCI said in a tweet.
Since the launch of the hotline, DCI says police officers have made several arrests that would have earlier been made difficult due to intimidation.
