Police officers have destroyed approximately 2,000 litres of illicit brew in Soweto, Nairobi, following an operation targeting illegal alcohol production and drug-related activities.

The operation, carried out as part of ongoing efforts to address substance abuse, led to the confiscation of kangara and the dismantling of equipment used in its production.

Authorities said the raid was aimed at disrupting illegal brewing networks, which have been linked to wider social and public health concerns within communities.

During the exercise, officers also destroyed the recovered brew and equipment at the site.

Police noted that such operations are part of sustained enforcement measures to curb the production and distribution of illegal alcohol and other substances.

The National Police Service said similar crackdowns will continue in affected areas as part of broader efforts to address drug and substance abuse.
