Police Intercept Tusks Worth Ksh 9.1 Million

Police in Busia have seized elephant tusks in Busia and arrested two suspects in connection with seized items.

26 kg of the item worth 9.1 million Kenyan Shillings, were seized by the police as they were being transported fromneighboring Uganda. 

The two suspects, one a Kenyan and the other Ugandan were arrested in Korinda near Busia town while riding their motorbikes.

Deputy of Police Chief, Stefan Kimunya during the reporting warned people engaging in this type of business that they could be arrested and urged citizens to continue informing the police about such businesses.

“Tumeweza kunaza kilo 26 za elephant tusks ambazo zilikua kwa gunia zote za dhamana ya milioni tisa (9.1 million) Kenyan Shillings,” Said Kimunya.

The police believe that the tusks are from Uganda.
