Nine suspected criminals, including adults and juveniles, are on the run after fleeing the Isiolo Police Station in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the nine, all of whom face pending criminal charges, escaped around 4 a.m. after allegedly breaking the lock to their holding cell.
They were then able to flee the precinct under mysterious circumstances.
Despite the fact that the holding cells are adjacent to the OB desk, officers and police manning the OB desk reportedly did not notice the nine were missing until hours after their escape.
Isiolo Sub-County Police Commander William Kiambi confirmed the incident saying that police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects.
He also stated that police are currently investigating how the criminals broke the lock to their holding cells and escaped unnoticed despite the presence of sentry and OB desk officers.
