Police have launched investigations into three suspected murder cases following the discovery of bodies in separate incidents in Laikipia and Nairobi counties.
In Laikipia County, the decomposed body of a man who had been missing for weeks was found dumped in a family borehole in the Ndurumo area of Rumuruti. The deceased, identified as Joseph Mwangi, 24, reportedly left his father’s home in Kaaga village on June 11, 2025, but never returned. He was reported missing on June 27.
Two days later, a worker assigned to the borehole reported a foul smell emanating from the site. Upon checking, he discovered Mwangi’s body floating in the water.
Police retrieved the decomposed body and moved it to the mortuary for an autopsy. Authorities say they are working to establish whether Mwangi drowned or was murdered and dumped in the borehole.
Meanwhile, in Nairobi, detectives are investigating the suspected murder of an unidentified man whose naked body was found at City Park, Parklands, on June 29.
The body, discovered by a member of the public around 4 pm, was in a decomposed state and had visible injuries to the face, police said. The motive behind the suspected murder remains unclear.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and a postmortem examination.
In a separate incident, police in Nairobi are investigating the suspected murder of a five-year-old girl, whose body was found floating on the Ngong River in the Komola area of Savanah estate.
The child’s body, which had bruises on the head, legs, and back, was discovered by residents and later retrieved by authorities. Police suspect the minor was murdered and the body dumped in the river.
The body was taken to the City Mortuary as investigations continue
Police have urged members of the public with information that may aid the investigations to come forward.
