Police on Thursday, May 25, lobbed tear gas canisters at hundreds of supporters of former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga who had gathered at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi.
Traffic along the road was brought to a standstill as the supporter broke in songs.
After recording a statement at DCI Nakuru, the former leader of the outlawed organised criminal group was ordered to appear at the DCI headquarters on Thursday morning for questioning.
He is being investigated in connection with the discovery of two firearms and more than 90 rolls of bhang at a home linked to him in Ngomongo, Bahati.
Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition leaders Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, lawyer Wajackoya, and other leaders were among those who arrived at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road on Thursday to accompany Njenga for grilling.
