Police officer in Baby Pendo’s Murder case allegedly flees to Somalia

The National Police Service has tabled a report on the progress of arresting a fugitive senior police officer alleged to have played a key role in the cold blood murder of Baby Samantha Pendo among other atrocities committed during and after the 2017 general elections in Kisumu and other parts of Kenya.

In the report, the police informed court that the fugitive police officer Mohammad Baa who retired as an assistant senior superintendent of police is feared to have fled to Somalia making his arrest close to impossible.

Chief Inspector Peter Kang’ai today told court that upto today, police have been unable to trace the fugitive police officer.

He informed court that Mohammed Baa retired from active duty in July 2021 hence complicating any effort to trace him.

The alleged fugitive police officer hails from Wajir County in North Eastern at a village called Madaga and his area chief confirmed that he never went back to village after retirement.

The chief inspector further told court that they could not trace the parents or any relative of the fugitive police officer.

The court heard that police is engaging mutual legal assistance and efforts to trace the officer.
