Police in Nairobi are investigating the loss of a firearm belonging to an officer attached to a former Member of Parliament after it allegedly disappeared from a spa along Moktar Daddah Street in the city centre.
According to police, a sergeant attached to the Security of Government Buildings unit and assigned to the former legislator said the firearm went missing on May 21, 2026.
The officer told investigators that he had visited a barber shop and spa along Moktar Daddah Street at around 4pm where he requested a complimentary massage.
He reportedly removed his Ceska pistol and placed it under a cushion pillow before the massage session began.
The officer later felt dizzy and decided to rest at the spa. When he woke up at around 11pm, he discovered that the firearm was missing.
He said he made efforts to search for the weapon but failed to recover it before formally reporting the matter on May 25.
Police visited the scene but the firearm had not been recovered by the time of the report.
Staff at the facility were interrogated as part of the probe into the incident.
There are fears the weapon will be used to commit crimes elsewhere. Police said they were reviewing security cameras in the area as part of the probe into the incident.
And police in Vihiga County arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a 40-year-old man whose body was found with serious injuries in Hamisi Sub-County.
The incident was reported after a body was discovered lying adjacent to a house in Ivole area of Gisambai Location.
Police officers visited the scene and identified the deceased as Godfrey Mwanziki.
The body was found lying in a supine position with visible injuries on the head and both legs.
Investigators later arrested a suspect in connection with the killing.
The body was moved to Mbale Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination as detectives from DCI Hamisi continue with investigations.
