Mwangi Muraya, MCA for Naivasha’s Viwandani Ward, has claimed that a traffic police officer attempted to shoot him inside the Nakuru County Assembly for unknown reasons.
The MCA told the media on Tuesday that the traffic officer had been following him from Gilgil and had blocked his path as he made his way to the County Assembly offices in Nakuru.
Muraya stated that he stopped his vehicle to determine what offences he had committed as a result, but the traffic officer ordered him to produce his identification documents.
Muraya, for his part, identified himself as a member of the County Assembly representing Viwandani Ward. According to his account, the MCA told the traffic officer that he was going to the County Assembly to perform his duties as a county legislator.
He claimed that the traffic officer drew his gun and pointed it at him, threatening to shoot even if he was the president of the country.
Muraya claimed that officers from Nakuru’s Kapembwo Police Station arrived at the scene shortly after 2:00 p.m. and restrained the traffic cop. His gun was also seized.
According to the MCA, this is not the first time the traffic cop has stalked him. The MCA revealed that the law enforcement officer had previously followed him on several occasions.
He requested that police officers assigned to the Kapembwo station investigate the reasons for the traffic officer’s decision to operate outside the law, particularly following him to the County Assembly, which is a protected place.
He also demanded that the traffic officer face disciplinary action, including dismissal from the Service.
