Machakos/Nyandarua – Police in Machakos and Nyandarua counties have launched investigations into two separate mysterious deaths reported on July 11, 2025.
Machakos: Man Killed, Set Ablaze in Suspected Love Triangle
In Tala, Matungulu Sub County, Machakos County, detectives are investigating a brutal murder after a man was allegedly killed by a jealous husband who suspected him of having an affair with his wife.
According to police, the suspect allegedly confronted the victim after reportedly finding him purchasing sukuma wiki(collard greens) from his wife in Kwamatingi village. The situation is believed to have escalated into a violent altercation, during which the suspect allegedly beat the man to death.
A police report indicated the deceased, whose identity has not yet been released, sustained serious injuries to the head, arms, and legs. Disturbingly, his body was later found with severe burns by the roadside, suggesting the suspect had poured petroleum on the body and set it on fire before fleeing the scene.
Officers from Tala Police Station, along with Kangundo and Matungulu Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) units, processed the scene. The body was moved to Kangundo Level Four Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem is pending.
Efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the suspect, who remains at large.
Nyandarua: Body of Man Found With Foam in Mouth, No Visible Injuries
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Nyandarua County, authorities are investigating the unexplained death of a 34-year-old man whose body was discovered by the roadside in the Muireri area of Kiambaga Location.
Police officers from Olkalou Police Station and DCI Nyandarua Central responded to the scene around 9:38 a.m. and identified the deceased as Joshua Muiruri Karanji, using a national identity card found in his trouser pocket.
According to a preliminary report, Karanji’s body was found lying face-up with white foam oozing from his mouth, but no visible physical injuries were observed.
The scene was documented and photographed before the body was transferred to JM Kariuki Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Detectives from DCI Nyandarua Central have taken over the investigation, with poisoning among the possible lines of inquiry.
