Kenyan police have sought to Interpol for assistance in determining the identify and nationality of a fitness trainer accused of assassinating a Nairobi lawyer.
Eric Kambaye, also known as Christian Baledi, is suspected of murdering Elizabeth Koki in January 2021. He was apprehended in a lodge while attempting to travel to Uganda’s capital, Kampala, and remains in detention.
Despite the fact that he claims to be Kadima Euloge, authorities discovered a ticket booked under Eric Kambayi’s name and a SIM card belonging to Zukiswa Nomganga.
The suspect’s bail application was denied by the High Court, with Judge David Kemei declaring that the suspect was a flight risk whose true identity could not be verified.
The suspect had no permanent home or family ties in Kenya, according to a pre-bail investigation.
The suspect’s father lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, while his mother lives in South Africa, according to the article.
Furthermore, Kenyan friends and Congolese Embassy employees who the client claimed would fund his bail criticized him, citing concerns that their assets would be sold if the accused escaped.
Kadima, who is still in police detention, maintains his innocence and claims the prosecution is employing propaganda to keep him detained during the trial.
The accused is an outlaw, according to detectives, who is already facing assault charges in South Africa.
In a separate case, Kenya enlisted Interpol’s assistance in tracking down and apprehending a luxury car smuggler in 2016. A London resident, the suspect, imported luxury vehicles valued Ksh28 million as domestic goods and personal effects.
The suspect was attempting to avoid paying Ksh8.5 million in taxes on two Range Rovers and one Mercedes Benz.
