Police officers in Kakamega County have intercepted a large consignment of cannabis sativa weighing approximately 100 kilograms following a dramatic late-night chase.
According to authorities, officers from Matungu Police Station flagged down a private vehicle at a roadblock, but the driver defied the order to stop, ran over road spikes, and sped off. The officers immediately initiated a high-speed pursuit towards the Mayoni area, where the vehicle was eventually stopped.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the narcotics, which have been secured as exhibits at Matungu Police Station.
Of the two occupants, one suspect was arrested at the scene and is in police custody awaiting processing and arraignment in court, while the other managed to escape and remains at large.
A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fugitive.
