Police Seize 500 Litres of Chang’aa in Nyamira County, One Arrested

Police in Keroka have arrested one suspect after seizing 500 litres of illicit brew during a raid in Ichuni Sub-Location on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Acting on a tip-off from members of the public, officers from Keroka Police Station stormed the suspect’s homestead, where they discovered 500 litres of Chang’aa and 20 litres of Kangara (fermented brew used in Chang’aa production).

The suspect was immediately taken into custody and escorted to the station for processing, pending arraignment in court.

The National Police Service (NPS) praised the community for their timely intelligence, which enabled the successful operation. Authorities urged residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing information to help curb the production and sale of illicit brews that pose a serious risk to public health and safety.
