By Michelle Ndaga

Police in Homa Bay County have intensified their war on drugs after seizing narcotics and impounding a motorcycle during a patrol operation earlier today, September 17, 2025.

According to authorities, officers from Ndhiwa Police Station were conducting routine patrols along the Ndhiwa–Sori Road when they spotted a suspicious motorcycle, registration number KMGK 059L, carrying the rider, two pillion passengers, and a large, heavy piece of luggage.

When flagged down, the rider defied orders and sped off towards Rodi, prompting a chase. The suspects eventually abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a nearby thicket.

Upon searching the luggage, police discovered a sack containing 390 rolls of bhang (cannabis sativa) with an estimated street value of KSh 117,000. The motorcycle was impounded and the recovered narcotics secured as evidence.

Police say efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the suspects.

The National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling drug networks across the country and urged the public to share information that could help in the fight against narcotics.
