Police in Meru County have intensified operations against illicit brews, narcotic drugs, and illegal gambling as part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown on outlawed substances.
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, a multi-agency security team comprising officers from the National Police Service (NPS) based at Mulika Police Station and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) carried out a coordinated operation in Kang’ethia village.
During the raid, the officers arrested one suspect who was found with 260 litres of Muna, a locally manufactured illicit brew, alongside equipment used in its production.
The items were seized and are being held as exhibits pending further investigations.
The NPS commended the strong collaboration between police and NGAO in sustaining the fight against illicit alcohol, narcotic drugs, and other unlawful activities that pose risks to public health and security.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to dismantling networks behind the illegal trade and warned offenders that the crackdown will continue across the county.
The latest operation adds to heightened government efforts to curb the production and distribution of illicit substances, which have been blamed for social and economic harm in many communities.
