Government Secures Kenya-Ethiopia Border Over Crisis

Police spokesman Bruno Shioso has called for enhanced vigilance over the worsening security situation in Ethiopia.

The police and other security agencies are naturally on high alert at the common border area to deter the influx of illegal firearms.

With the general election only eight months away, the Kenyan security apparatus has escalated covert operations to secure the country from threats as per the 2010 Constitution.

The Common borders are manned by an inter-agency team that profiles movement and activities at all entry points.

The inter-agency teams consist of the Police, intelligence, KRA, banking fraud detectives, and ICT professionals.

It is these covert teams that the government has deployed to the porous borders.

Alongside these are undercover snippers from various regiments of the GSU and anti-stock theft unit.
