Poll ranks Raila most influential person in Kenya

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has been ranked the most influential person in Kenya in the latest opinion poll.

According to an Infotrak Poll released on Wednesday, October 23, Raila tops the list ahead of President William Ruto and impeached Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua

Raila tops the list with 26 percent of respondents considering him the most influential person.

His influence spanned across demographics and regions, though most vital in his home region of Nyanza (42%) and notably high in Western (34 percent) and Coast (39 percent).

“His ability to continuously shape public discourse and mobilize large portions of the electorate, despite not holding office, speaks to his enduring legacy,” read the report in parts. 

President Ruto is second with 7 percent of the respondents considering as the influential person.

His influence was strongest in Western Kenya and Central Kenya, both of which are key political battlegrounds.

Rigathi Gachagua has been ranked third with 6 percent support mostly from the Central and Rift Valley region.

Notably, Embakasi East Babu Owino has also been mentioned among the influential figures in Kenya.

Babu came in fourth with 5 percent garnered among the urban youth in Nairobi and Nyanza.

Gen Z have also been featured in the list with 5 percent followed by lawyer and activist Morara Kebaso at 4 percent.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and comedian turned activist Eric Omondi tie at 3 percent.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi closely follow them at 2 percent.

Tieng at 1 percent is deputy president designate Kithure Kindiki, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, former Interior CS Fred Matangi, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Busia Senator Okiyah Omtata.
