The excitement around the 2025 National Sevens Circuit is set to peak this weekend after the pools for the Embu Sevens, scheduled for August 23–24, were unveiled at the RFUEA Grounds.
With just two rounds left in the series, teams are under pressure to maximize points and solidify their positions on the log. The tournament promises fierce competition as Kenya’s rugby heavyweights and emerging sides gear up for a decisive showdown.
Pool A is headlined by circuit leaders and reigning Christie and Driftwood champions KCB RFC, who will be eyeing a third title this season. The bankers, fresh from clinching their record eighth Christie crown to move top on 63 points, face Daystar Falcons, Mwamba RFC, and an invitational team.
Pool B brings together defending champions Strathmore Leos, who sit second overall on 58 points, alongside Kabras Sugar, who are desperate to recover after a poor Christie outing. They are joined by the newly promoted Kabete Stallions, fresh from lifting the Christie Division Two title, and another invited side.
In Pool C, third-placed Menengai Oilers (47 points) will seek to maintain their challenge after reaching the Christie final. They will square off against Nondescripts, Nakuru RFC, and an invitational team.
Pool D promises fireworks with last year’s Embu Sevens runners-up Catholic Monks leading the charge against Kenya Harlequins, MMUST RFC, and another invited side.
With three legs, Driftwood, Prinsloo, and Christie, already completed, Embu Sevens is shaping up as a critical battleground before the season finale.
While several teams remain in contention, the spotlight will be firmly on KCB, Strathmore Leos, and Menengai Oilers, as the race for the 2025 circuit crown enters its decisive phase.
