Former Ganze MP Francis Baya was among veteran politicians who were received to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) political party by its party leader Raila Odinga.
Mr Odinga who is currently in Coast’s Azimio tour started by holding a public rally that was hosted by Kilifi County s ODM chairman Teddy Mwambire. Mwambire is also the Ganze MP.
While joining the party Mr Baya announced his bid for the Kilifi gubernatorial seat under the ODM ticket.
His entrance into the race now brings to four the number of candidates who will battle for the party ticket in an the ODM contest.
Others also looking for an ODM ticket include Gideon Mungaro, Gideon Saburi, Jimmy Kahindi, and Francis Baya.
Mr Odinga welcomed Mr Baya from the party and said that nominations shall be free and fair to all the candidates. In a show of solidarity, all the candidates joined hands Infront of the public and waved to the excited residents.
Mr Mwambire said that the nomination exercise shall be free and fair and that the ODM team will remain United even after the primaries.
“We are all a great and big team. The way you see us here, we shall still remain together until the August Election. We are an ODM family and no one will be left out, ” said Mr Mwambire.
Mr Odinga is today expected to hold a rally at the famous Tononoka grounds in Mombasa.
