Popular Nightclub 1824 Rebrands, Set To Reopen At New Location

Popular entertainment club 1824, which was demolished a month ago on Lang’ata Road in Nairobi, is set to reopen soon.

The nightclub was demolished on Friday, March 1, 2024, eliciting mixed reactions from social media users.

The club has since relocated to a new location on the same street.

According to a banner, the new location appears to be Aerodrome Road in Madaraka, along Langata Road.

According to one of the directors, the club will also no longer be referred to as 1824, but will go by its Roman numeral equivalent – MDCCCXXIV.
“The name 1824 in our brand is totally dead,” said the director.
The director added that the establishment’s doors will tentatively be opened to revellers on May 12, 2024.

The club was demolished following a legal battle with its owner, Wilson Nashon Kanani. He owns the lounge with two other business partners, Biko Ochieng Gwendo and George Avugwi Lutta.
