Kenya’s COVID-19 positivity rate hit 9.6 percent on Thursday, according to a statement from the Health Ministry.
The rate of positivity was from new 904 infections which bring the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 154,392.
The cases which were tested from a sample size of 5,673 people in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests conducted to 1,624,663.
558 Kenyans and 19 foreigners are make up the new infections. There are 519 males and 385 females. The youngest is a two-month-old baby, and the oldest is 97 years old.
In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 288, Mombasa 88, Meru 54, Nakuru 32, Kakamega and Busia 31 cases each, Uasin Gishu and Nyamira 29 cases each, Kericho 27, Kisumu and Nyandarua 23 cases each, Murang’a 22, Kitui 17, Tharaka Nithi 16, Baringo, Kiambu, Kirinyaga and Nandi 14 cases each, Laikipia 13, Vihiga 12, Taita Taveta 11, Machakos and Kisii 10 cases each, Marsabit, Bomet, Kilifi, Embu and Siaya 9 cases each, Trans Nzoia 7, Bungoma and Kajiado 5 cases each, Samburu and Mandera 4 cases each, West Pokot and Kwale 3 cases each, Homa Bay and Isiolo 2 cases each, Nyeri and Lamu 1 case each.
20 deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours, with 7 occurring on various dates within the last month and 13 being late deaths discovered through facility record audits. This brings the total number of fatalities to 2,560.
88 patients have recovered from the disease; 12 from home-based and isolation care and the remaining 76 from different health facilities.
Total recoveries now stand at 105,367. Cumulative discharges are 76,979 from Home Based Care & Isolation. Those from various health facilities are 28,338.
