President-elect William Ruto has justified the decision of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party affiliates to join his Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
According to Ruto, the action indicates Kenya’s political space’s expanding democratization, even as he labeled his alliance as a coalition of the willing and free.
“I am truly grateful that as Kenyans we are progressively appreciating that we can compete, hold different views, and belong to different parties, but we can find a formula to work together for the greater good of our country. This is the journey we are engaged in at the moment,” he said
Ruto, addressing at a gathering to officially welcome the United Democratic Movement (UDM) to the Kenya Kwanza coalition, stated that he believes in free association. He claims that the development and extension of his coalition will enable him to govern more effectively.
“You will participate with us in parliament, governance, and executive and in every other aspect as we seek to consolidate our country, development, and progress,” he said
“Kenya Kwanza is large enough to accommodate all of us. Our plan, agenda is broad enough to accommodate all the ideas that will come from all the constituent parties, and leaders that form the Kenya Kwanza,” Ruto added.
Ruto was proclaimed the winner of the Presidential election on August 9, 2022.
