President Kenyatta Launches Ksh. 3bn Microsoft Center

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday evening launched the Nairobi Microsoft Africa Development Centre (ADC).

The centre which is located in the iconic Dunhill Towers, Westlands Nairobi is the second of its kind in African and will attract highly trained individuals who will create solutions to local problems with a world-market focus.

Speaking during the launch, President Kenyatta termed the Microsoft facility a “seminal development” that endorses the international recognition of Kenya’s abundant high-tech workforce capabilities, business opportunities and conducive investment environment.

“As a premier centre of research and development for Microsoft, we all remain confident that you – together with our young men and women – will build a local world-class talent and create innovative technological solutions that will yield global positive impacts,” President Kenyatta pointed out.

The center has partnered with the government to create over 200,000 job opportunities for young Kenyans in support of the digital economy.

So far, it has absorbed 431 Kenyans who are working in different fields such as software development, programmes management, technical design, content writing, operations, research, and applied science.
