President Museveni Apologises To Kenya Over Muhoozi Tweets

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has apologized to Kenya for his son General Muhoozi’s reckless tweets.

Museveni stated that his son’s involvement in Kenyan politics was inappropriate.

He stated that Ugandan government officials should not interfere in the affairs of other countries.

“I ask our Kenyan brothers and sisters to forgive us for tweets sent by General Muhoozi, former Commander of Land Forces here, regarding the election matters in that great country. It is not correct for Public officers, be they civilian or military, to comment or interfere in any way, in the internal affairs of brother countries,” part of the statement read.

Museveni, who promoted Muhoozi to full general after claiming that he would capture Nairobi in two weeks, added that he had personally apologized to President William Ruto and that his son had made positive contributions to the country, resulting in the promotion.

Museveni stated that the African Union’s Peer Review Mechanism or confidential discussions between us or EAC and AU fora are the only legitimate channels available – not public statements.

“There are many other positive contributions the General has made and can still make. This is a time-tested formula –discourage the negative and encourage the positive. Very sorry, ndugu zetu Wakenya. Also sorry to the Ugandans who could have been annoyed by one of their officials meddling in the affairs of brother Kenya,” Museveni said.

Museveni deposed his son as commander of the country’s infantry forces after the son tweeted an unwarranted threat to conquer Kenya’s capital, causing widespread concern in East Africa.

This caused an uproar that made Museveni apologise.

“I am very sorry for what my son Muhoozi did, Uganda president has apologised over the horrendous tweets his son shared on social media,” he said.

“I ask our Kenyan brothers and sisters to forgive us for  tweets sent by General Muhoozi, former Commander .”
