President Ruto Chairs Emergency El Nino Response Cabinet Meeting

President William Ruto is chairing an emergency El Nino response meeting with his Cabinet at State House in Nairobi.

This follows nationwide floods that have claimed lives, displaced families, and destroyed property.

Over 70 people have died so far, and over 80,000 people have been displaced across 33 counties.

Emergency response teams, including the Red Cross, have warned that if the heavy rains continue, the numbers will rise and more rivers will overflow.

Evacuation efforts from flood-prone areas have also begun, with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stating that the national government is working to deploy helicopters to rescue those stranded and coordinate humanitarian aid to those in need.
