President William Ruto has congratulated Arsenal F.C. after the club clinched the 2025/26 English Premier League title, ending a 22-year wait for the trophy.
In a statement shared on social media, Ruto praised the club’s resilience and determination, describing Arsenal’s campaign as an “epic adventure” marked by recovery and resurgence.
“It has been quite an experience to follow Arsenal Football Club’s epic adventure, from times of struggle and crushing setback, to successive seasons of recovery and resurgence on their glorious path to the summit of the English Premier League,” Ruto said.
The President said Arsenal’s title-winning season reflected “the power of hope, resilience, focus and relentless hardwork in action”.
He added that fans had watched “a team of dedicated professionals do battle against formidable adversaries, matchday after matchday”.
“Tonight, the great reward is won. The team is victorious. It’s faith and dedication is vindicated. And our commitment to succeed through work, discipline and teamwork is affirmed,” he said.
Ruto ended his message with a brief salute to the North London club, saying: “Congratulations to the Gunners.”
According to the Premier League, Arsenal secured the title after Manchester City F.C. were held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night, leaving City four points behind the league leaders with one match remaining.
The triumph marks Arsenal’s first Premier League crown in 22 years and follows three straight seasons in which the club finished runners-up, including the 2023/24 campaign when Manchester City edged them by two points.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also made history by becoming the first former Premier League player to win the title as a manager. Arteta took charge of the club in December 2019 after previously playing for Arsenal between 2011 and 2016.
The latest victory gives Arsenal four Premier League titles and 14 English top-flight championships overall, placing them behind only Liverpool and Manchester United in the history of English football.
The Premier League title has now been won by three different clubs in the last three seasons, following Liverpool’s triumph in 2024/25 and Manchester City’s success in 2023/24.
