Kenyan President William Ruto has expressed deep condolences to the families affected by the devastating fires sweeping through Los Angeles, emphasizing Kenya’s solidarity with the United States during this trying time.
The catastrophic wildfires have wreaked havoc across the region, leaving loss and destruction in their wake.
In his statement, Ruto conveyed the sentiments of the Kenyan people, saying, “The people of Kenya send their heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and to all those who have suffered losses during the fires that have caused destruction and suffering in Los Angeles.” He extended thoughts and prayers not only to the victims but also to all Americans uniting to assist those impacted.
Highlighting the increasing threat of climate change, Ruto urged for collective global action to combat the root causes of such disasters.
“Extreme climatic phenomena could become the new normal unless bold measures are taken,” he warned, advocating for urgent steps to mitigate environmental crises that threaten communities worldwide.
In a message of hope, Ruto commended the resilient spirit of the American people, stating his belief that they would draw on shared values to recover and rebuild from the tragedy.
“We trust that the indomitable spirit of the American people will inspire them with the resilience and determination to recover from the tragedy and emerge even stronger,” he remarked.
