President William Ruto has stated that his government will not be distracted by those in the opposition.
President Ruto stated during the Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) Karen- Silver Jubilee Celebration Service that the Kenya Kwanza administration is committed to fulfilling its pre-election promises to Kenyans.
The head of state hinted that his government would not exclude the opposition from state affairs, but would rather allow them to play an oversight role.
“My deputy has said there is a bit of noise, but you know everybody is doing their job. I think the opposition is doing their job, as executive we will do our job, the judiciary will equally do their job. But as the Bible says, all works well for the good of those who trust in Jesus, I am sure that all these will work well,” he said.
The head of state further ironically referred to the Bible when the walls of Jerusalem were being rebuilt in the presence of Sanballat as the chief opponent of the Jewish governor Nehemiah.
He urged all government officials to remain focused towards ensuring efficient service delivery to the people of Kenya.
“The building of the wall by Nehemiah continued even as Sanballat and Tobias were talking. So, never mind Sanballat let us focus,” he added.
This comes just days after Raila Odinga’s Azimio-led faction called the ongoing petition before the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) on the removal of four commissioners at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) a political witch-hunt.
Odinga told journalists on Thursday that the ongoing investigation is a retaliation mission by President William Ruto’s administration against dissenting IEBC Deputy Chairperson Juliana Cherera and commissioners Francis Mathenge, Irene Masit, and Justus Nyang’aya for expressing concerns about the process that resulted in Ruto becoming Kenya’s 5th President.
