President William Ruto has today begun a three-day working tour of Migori County, starting with an interdenominational church service at Migori Primary School grounds in Suna East Constituency.
The visit, which runs from May 4 to 6, underscores the President’s continued efforts to boost development in the region and strengthen political ties in ODM strongholds.
During the tour, President Ruto is expected to visit Suna East, Suna West, Rongo, Uriri, and Awendo constituencies, where he will commission key development projects. Among the highlights is the commissioning of the Stella-Gogo-Sibuoche tarmac road and the groundbreaking ceremony for a 200-unit affordable housing project in Uriri Constituency.
In addition to infrastructure, the Head of State will also inspect ongoing healthcare and development initiatives across the region as part of his administration’s commitment to equitable service delivery.
This visit follows a meeting on March 26 between President Ruto and leaders from Western Kenya at State House, where he reiterated the government’s resolve to revive the region’s ailing sugar sector and pursue inclusive economic development.
The Migori tour comes at a politically significant time, following the recently signed cooperation agreement between President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga. Analysts see the tour as part of a wider strategy to solidify support in the vote-rich region ahead of the 2027 general elections, amidst shifting political alliances.
President Ruto’s visit is expected to draw large crowds and spark discussions on the future of development and political alignment in the region.
