President Ruto Lands In Kampala For AU Agriculture Summit

The president is anticipated to highlight Kenya's initiatives to improve food security, alleviate poverty, generate employment, and encourage sustainable development.

President William Ruto has arrived in Kampala, Uganda, for the African Union Commission’s Extraordinary Summit on Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

CAADP is a crucial AU Agenda 2063 program that aims to eliminate hunger and poverty through agriculture-led development while also transforming Africa’s agri-food systems.

Ruto departed the nation early on Saturday to go to the summit, which will evaluate how well the goals have been met and strive to accept the Kampala Declaration, which lays out a common vision for changing agri-food systems between 2026 and 2035.

Along with other high-ranking Ugandan state officials, he was welcomed by representatives of the Kenyan Embassy, notably Ambassador Joash Maangi.

The president is anticipated to highlight Kenya’s initiatives to improve food security, alleviate poverty, generate employment, and encourage sustainable development.

He will also hold several sideline meetings with President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and other leaders in a bid to advance regional priorities.
