President Ruto Launches Gava Mkononi App, How To Access

President William Ruto unveiled the Digital Government Services, Gava Mkononi (eCitizen Mobile App), at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Friday, June 30.

The platform is expected to house over 5,000 government services, allowing Kenyans to conveniently access critical government services from the comfort of their own homes.

In addition, Ruto unveiled the Gava Express, which is similar to Huduma Centres. Unlike physical centres that provide government services in urban areas, the platform will provide services at the grassroots level.

The government intends to open over 300,000 outlets across the country in collaboration with the private sector.

Aside from establishing a mission to improve Kenyans’ access to critical services, the Ruto administration intends to digitise all of its services in order to eliminate corruption by eliminating physical interactions, brokers, and other influence peddlers.

Other objectives of the platform include increasing revenue collection by reducing leakages, a niggling problem associated with manual levies collection.

The platform also aims to generate employment by incubating innovations and projects whose funding is made possible by increased revenue collection.

The app provides services such as business registration, police clearance, civil registration, initial registration for foreign nationals, and the directorate of immigration services.

Other services include those provided by the Kenya Ports Authority, Kenya Revenue Authority, Hustler Fund, National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

The app can be downloaded online before a user creates an account by entering the required information.

The user’s name, phone number, National Identity Card, and email address are all required details.

Notably, you can use the platform to register as a citizen, foreigner, or resident.

Kenyans can access a variety of government services after registering.

Kenyans can use mobile money and debit cards to pay for all services.
