President Ruto Leads the Nation in Mourning Isiolo South MP

Kenya is mourning the death of Isiolo South Member of Parliament Mohamed Tubi Bidu, who passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

President William Ruto led the country in mourning, praising the late MP’s lifelong commitment to education, empowerment, and development.

“Hon. Tubi will be remembered as a dedicated public servant and a passionate advocate for education, who believed in empowering communities through knowledge and opportunity,” the President said in a statement.

“His commitment to transforming the lives of his constituents and advancing development in Isiolo stands as a lasting legacy of his leadership. May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace and comfort his loved ones.”

Leaders Pay Tribute to a Dedicated Servant

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, confirmed the sad news in an evening statement, describing it as “a profound loss to Parliament and the nation.”

“It is with profound sorrow that I inform you and the nation of the demise of our esteemed colleague, the Member for Isiolo South Constituency, Hon. Tubi Bidu Mohamed, who has left us this evening while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital,” said Speaker Wetang’ula.

Tubi Bidu was serving his first term in the National Assembly and was a Member of the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining as well as the Public Petitions Committee. Before joining Parliament, he made history as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, a position he held until 2017.

Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo described Tubi as “a principled and courageous leader” who dedicated his life to building unity and uplifting his people.

“Hon. Tubi previously served with distinction as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, where he laid a strong foundation for devolved governance,” Governor Guyo said.

“His passing is a profound loss not only to Isiolo South but to the entire Isiolo community and the nation at large. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus.”

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale mourned him as “a respected elder and dedicated leader”, saying:

“Our nation, and especially the people of Northern Kenya, mourn the passing of Hon. Mohamed Tubi. May Allah have mercy on him and grant his family patience.”

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen also eulogized the late MP as “a pillar of peace and development.”

“Tubi will be fondly remembered for his legacy of commitment to development, peaceful coexistence, and environmental conservation,” Murkomen said.

Hon. Tubi Bidu’s career reflected the rise of local leadership under Kenya’s devolved system. His work in the Isiolo County Assembly established critical administrative structures that strengthened governance at the county level. In Parliament, his focus on environmental conservation, forestry, and mining underscored the growing importance of resource management in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid regions.

He was widely regarded as a bridge-builder between traditional leadership structures and modern governance. His voice often championed the inclusion of pastoralist communities in national development and policymaking.
