President William Ruto has finally released the list of new Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) nominees as he continues to restructure his administration.

The 50 nominees for positions in various ministries are mostly political losers and loyalists to the current administration.

The names of the nominees have since been submitted to Parliament for approval.

“BY DINT OF THE EXECUTIVE ACTION, the nominations have been transmitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval by Parliament in accordance with the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act (No. 33 of 2011),” reads a statement Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.

Among those nominated is former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga, who has been nominated for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

She is among the poll losers who have been awarded in the list. 

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, who unsuccessfully contested for Nairobi senatorial seat has been nominated for the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs.  

Other women nominated include Ann Wanjiku Mwangi for the office of the Deputy President and Rehema Hassan for the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

At the National Treasury, Beatrice Nkatha Nyaga has been nominated. 

Former Laikipia Woman Rep Catherine Waruguru will be vetted for the CAS slot at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

Former West Pokot Woman Rep Lilian Cheptoo is among those nominated to the Ministry of Trade and Investments. 

Charity Kibaba has been nominated for the position at the Ministry of Gender.

The list also includes Jackline Lukalo (Forestry), Rehema Jaldesa (Tourism), Mary Seneta (Energy) and Rael Chebichii (EAC and ASALs). 

The published list comes days after the second in command, Rigathi Gachagua defended the decision to create the CAS position in the Ruto administration saying that they were necessary to support Cabinet Secretaries and fill in the gap in policy making in ministries.
