President William Ruto has stated that in the future, all Kenyans must collaborate for the country’s sake.
Ruto stated on Saturday, when commissioning Kipsoen Technical and Vocational College in Elgeyo Marakwet County, that all Kenyans must be on the same page.
To achieve this, the President stated that Kenyans must overcome political and regional divides.
He insisted that Kenya is a country of great potential if all worked together.
“This is our country and I have the decision that going forward, we are going to work as Kenyans. All of us on the same side making sure that we harness every opportunity, and every talent capability to make sure that we build our economy.
“We create jobs, we manage our debts, we deal firmly and decisively with corruption and make sure Kenya matches forward because Kenya is a country of great potential and we must work together to close ranks from across political divides, regional divides, Kenyans working together for the best interest of the Republic of Kenya,” Ruto said.
His remarks come a few days after he said that he now looks to have a broad-based government after a wave of protests across the country.
The protests have culminated in the dismissal of the entire Cabinet and some senior police officials including the Inspector General of Police resigning.
In his address after dissolving the Cabinet, Ruto said he would consult widely across different sectors and political formations before reconstituting his new cabinet.
“I will immediately engage in extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations, with the aim of setting up a broad-based government that will assist me in accelerating and expediting the necessary, urgent and irreversible, implementation of radical programmes,” he said.
He said the new team, must help him deal with the burden of debt, raise domestic resources, expand job opportunities, eliminate wastage and unnecessary duplication of a multiplicity of government agencies, as well as slay the dragon of corruption consequently making the government lean, inexpensive, effective and efficient.
