Wafula Chebukati, and two IEBC Commissioners, Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye, received state honors from President William Ruto.
Following the Jamhuri Day festivities, Ruto selected Chebukati as one of 13 recipients of the Elder of the Golden Heart (EGH) award.
Along with 35 other Kenyans, Guliye and Molu, two additional IEBC commissioners, received the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS).
Additionally, Ruto acknowledged a few lawmakers from Azimio la Umoja. Opiyo Wandayi, the minority’s leader, was one of them and received the Third Class: Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH).
Julius Malombe, the governor of Kitui, was awarded the Second Class: Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH).
Gladys Boss Shollei, a woman representing Uasin Gishu, received the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart from the head of state (MGH).
