President Ruto Taken To Court Over Hustler Fund

A civil society group has filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the hustler funds

The petitioner, acting under the name ‘Linda Ugatuzi,’ has raised over 15 concerns with the court, including the method in which the fund operates because it has no known established office or entity.

Prof Fred Ogolla of the organization questions why Kenyans are being asked for their PIN numbers, and the money has not not been approved by parliament.

“A fund of this nature must be established by an Act of Parliament, and the funds distributed to Kenyans must be included in the financial budget,” the professor explained.

In his plea to the High Court, he claimed that Kenyans must be protected while receiving cash or monies from unknown sources.

The application requests that the court compel initiators of Hustlers Fund to identify their operating office, corporation, and board of directors.

He further stated that Kenyans are not under any obligation to repay because the funds lack a legal structure for payback terms.
