President Ruto To Attend Gachagua Brother’s Burial On Tuesday

President William Ruto will travel to Nyeri county on Tuesday to attend the funeral of Jackson Reriani Gachagua, the elder brother of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

This will be Ruto’s first visit to Nyeri County since being elected President.

In a statement last week, the DP stated that his brother’s death has left him devastated.

“The news of your passing hit me hard. I now remain alone among the sons of Kirigo,” Rigathi said in a statement on his official Facebook page.

In the last five years, Gachagua has lost two brothers: former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua in February 2017 and James Reriani in May 2022.

Jackson’s funeral will be held at Hiriga Primary School in Gachagua’s home constituency of Mathira.

Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga, his deputy David Kinaniri, and other leaders paid their condolences to the family at their Mathira home on Sunday.

Among those expected to accompany the President are Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetangula (national Assembly speaker), Prof Kithure Kindiki (nominee, Interior CS), Kipchumba Murkomen (nominee, Transport and Roads CS), and Moses Kuria (nominee, Trade CS).

Other legislators include Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu), and governors Kimani Wamatangi (Kiambu), Ann Waiguru (Kirinyaga), and Irungu Kanga’ta (Murang’a).
