President Uhuru Kenyatta has unveiled the ultra-modern Neema abbatoir (Slaughterhouse) located at Lucky Summer, Nairobi County.
The new facility is an addition to the meat processing industry whereby livestock owners will be able to make fortunes occassioned by a reduced delay.
The abbatoir processes a variety of meat products for local and export markets, and has an installed daily slaughter capacity of 6,000 small stock.
He was accompanied by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director General Major General Badi, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya and a host of community leaders.
The revival of the meat industry is a game changer for Kenya’s over dependence on agriculture and equally, a source of employment opportunities for farmers, livestock owners and meat sellers.
Uhuru recently re-opened the renovated Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) processing plant in Athi River Machakos County, now under the Ministry Of Defense.
