Presidential aspirant Maraga takes his campaigns to Mombasa, Tana River counties

Presidential candidate David Maraga and his United Green Movement (UGM) party have taken their campaign to the Coastal regions in preparation for the upcoming 2027 polls and the mini-elections.

In a statement on his X page after campaigning for Odha Ilu Hiyesa, the party’s candidate in Chewardi ward, Tana River County, Maraga reiterated the movement’s desire to usher in proper leadership and send the incumbent regime under President William Ruto home.

“Kenya is changing day by day as we work to send the Ruto regime home and hold him accountable for gross violations of our Katiba,” he stated.

Following the official launch of his campaign and unveiling of UGM as its official party on Tuesday, October 2, 2025, Maraga has since visited Kisumu and Siaya County in a bid to popularise his new outfit.

As part of its itinerary on the coastal region, Maraga is expected to launch party offices in Kilifi and Mombasa Counties on Friday, October 24, 2025.

The retired Chief Justice was in the company of his deputy and former Ndhiwa Member of Parliament (MP), Augustino Neto.

His visit to Kilifi and Mombasa comes after he held a campaign for UGM’s candidate in the upcoming Ugunja by-elections on Monday, October 6, 2025.

During the grassroots tour, the former CJ commended the enthusiastic reception of the party’s candidate in the region, terming it a sign of the nation’s readiness for change.

“Great to see the enthusiastic reception of our @UGMParty candidate for the Ugunja parliamentary seat, Dr. Benson Obal Otieno. Kenya is ready for a reset! Erokamano,” he said.

“We joined UGM Party Parliamentary Candidate Dr. Benson Obol as he launched his campaign ahead of the November by-elections in Ugunja, Siaya County. The Greens will always field visionary candidates who have the people at heart. We look forward to bringing this home!” his message read.

The party asserted that it was hopeful of upending Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) dominance in the region and bagging the upcoming parliamentary contest.
