Prisons Sergeant Behind Ksh. 48 Million Criminal Enterprise Released

A senior officer attached to Lang’ata women’s prison linked to job scheme that saw dozens of Kenyans lose over Ksh. 48 million was on Monday morning arraigned before a Nairobi magistrate.

Key suspect Grace Nyamohanga alias Nasra, in the company of four others, Jackson Mureithi Manyara, Zachary Kimathi, Cosmas, Peter Ngere Githu and Masiaga Sylvester David denied all the 72 fraud charges associated with them.

In his ruling, senior principal magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot released the accused on 4M bond with an alternative 2m bond.

Sergeant Nyamohanga is thought to be the brain behind the audacious criminal enterprise, which is reported to operate from deep within Nairobi’s Langáta Women’s Prison

Detectives began following her after three of her victims offered to record statements.
