Prophet Who Defiled, Killed A Little Girl Detained For 7 Days

A preacher suspected of defiling and murdering a 10-year-old schoolgirl in Kochia, Rangwe sub county, will stay detained while police conduct more investigations.

Raphael Okinyi, the suspect, will be jailed for a week as police officials questioned him about the event.

The instruction was made by the court when an official from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, sergeant Perminus Mureithi, requested additional time.

He is expected to be arraigned in Court again on November 30, 2022, for plea-taking.

Okinyi will be transferred to the hospital for age and mental health tests, as well as a DNA test.

Okinyi was accused of defiling and strangling Vivian Akoth, a grade two student at Nyalienga Primary School.

The DCI officer stated that they were still gathering evidence to charge the suspect.

They requested 14 days to finish the procedure, but the court only gave them a week.

“The court authorizes detectives seven days to keep the suspect in order to obtain further information,” stated Homa Bay Principal magistrate Ruth Maloba.

The alleged offence occurred on November 3, 2022, and the culprit was apprehended at St.Lucia Legion Maria Church on Tuesday and arraigned in court today.

He will be arraigned in Court again on November 30, 2022 for plea taking.
