PSC Advertises DPP Post After Haji’s Exit

     A seven-member panel appointed by President William Ruto has kicked off the process of recruiting Kenya’s next Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

    In an advertisement on the Public Service Commission (PSC) social media platform, the panel chairperson Shadrack Mose stated that applicants must have at least 10 years of experience as a superior court judge or professionally qualified magistrate.

    One must also meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution, be of high moral character and integrity, and demonstrate a high level of professional competence in both legal and life experiences, as well as have sharp communication skills.

    Mr. Mose added that applicants must submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae, copies of relevant academic and professional certificates and transcripts, a National Identity Card or Passport, testimonials, and any other relevant supporting documents.

    Applications should be received before the 12th of July by electronic mail or at the public service commission officer in a sealed envelope.

    “All applications should be addressed to “The Chairperson of the DPP Selection Panel and submitted in ONE of the following ways,” read part of the advert. 

    The recruitment process follows the exit of former DPP Noordin Haji, who left the position to become the new director general of the National Intelligence Service.

    Mose stated that interested parties should also have a law degree from a recognized university or be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

    He added that the parties must also possess an equivalent qualification from a common law jurisdiction.

    An occupant of the DPP office will serve for a period of 8 years and is will not be eligible for re-appointment.
